IPD Photography Grant
The IPD Photography Grant is given to Northwestern undergraduate students participating in one of IPD’s study abroad programs. Students will produce photo content from their study abroad experience to be used in IPD archives and promotional materials.
Award of $150 disbursed following study abroad experience, contingent upon the quality of work provided.
The IPD Photography Grant is open to all Northwestern undergraduate students confirmed to participate in any IPD study abroad program who will have full access to photography equipment during their study abroad experience.
IPD Photography Grant application deadlines will be communicated to students shortly after their program confirmation deadline.
To be considered for the grant, students should submit five (5) original photos on any topic; photos may be edited. Photos may be samples from coursework, the student’s work portfolio, or taken primarily for the purpose of this grant. Consideration for the grant is contingent upon the student being accepted into the IPD program to which they applied. Photos should be submitted through the IPD Photography Grant application.
Grant recipients must be able to supply their own standard photography equipment (access to photo editing software upon return from study abroad experience recommended, but not required). Recipients will be expected to take photo content that captures the academic and cultural experience of the country where they are studying abroad (i.e. cultural immersive experiences, experience of studying at their host university, field trips and outings, etc…).
The time commitment for this project is estimated at 15hrs, which includes the time spent taking photographs while abroad as well as organizing photos into categories, adding captions and credits, and editing photographs. Grant recipients are expected to turn in their final project approximately 4 weeks after the program ends.
The grant will be disbursed upon student’s return, following IPD approval of the photography content supplied.
