Karey Fuhs

  •  Overseeing IPD's specially designed, faculty led and exchange programs in the Americas (Chile, Cuba, and Mexico) and France
  •  Advising students before, during, and after their study abroad experience
  • Managing program operations in collaboration with partner universities
  • Liaising with other Northwestern offices and departments and overseas partners on academic and administrative matters related to programs

Biography:

Originally from Michigan, Karey graduated with a BA in Environmental Science from Northwestern and an MA in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University. Inspired by her study abroad experiences in Chile and Ecuador while an undergraduate, Karey returned to Ecuador after graduation, where she worked for SIT Study Abroad for several years. She also worked at the Chazen Institute for International Business at Columbia Business School, Social Justice Initiatives at Columbia Law School, and the Cloud Institute of Sustainability Education before returning to Northwestern in 2010.

Biography:

Catrina joined the IPD office in January 2015. She is passionate about education abroad and has worked within international programming for nearly a decade. Prior to joining Northwestern, Catrina was the Associate Director of International Programs at Columbia College Chicago where she focused on centralizing and streamlining faculty-led programs running across six continents. Catrina is an Illinois native but completed her undergraduate degree in International Relations and Italian at University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has studied and worked abroad in various locations throughout Europe, Asia, North America and South America. Catrina loves to travel, learn about cultures and people, and taste foods from around the world.

Biography:

A native of Illinois, Lauren joined Northwestern in May 2016 after living and working around the US and the world for a number of years. She completed her BA in Political Science at Colorado State University and a MS in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Miami University (Ohio). Before joining the IPD staff, she was a study abroad advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked closely with programs in Asia and Eastern Europe. She spent four years living in beautiful Fukushima, Japan and recently completed a one year round-the-world trip. Lauren loves the adventure of traveling to remote or non-traditional destinations like North Korea, Siberia, Antarctica, and the West Bank.

Whitney Bennett

  • Assisting with the administration of IPD study abroad programs.
  • Advising the IPD Student Ambassadors.
  • Managing events and programs.

Biography:

A proud Kentuckian, Whitney joined the IPD office in June 2016 following the completion of her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy at Northwestern. Whitney received her BA in Anthropology and minor in Psychology from the University of Louisville. During her undergraduate years, Whitney studied abroad in Istanbul, Turkey. Prior to joining IPD, Whitney taught English at a university in southwestern Turkey as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA), worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer at a community center in Louisville, Kentucky, and worked as a Graduate Assistant at IES Abroad, and Northwestern's Study Abroad Office and Buffett Institute for Global Studies. In addition to traveling, Whitney enjoys cycling everywhere, walking her dog Milo, and attempting to be an artist.

Sharon is a junior from Hong Kong studying Economics, History, and German. After studying abroad with IPD in Berlin, where she studied German language and history, she changed her coursework from Mathematics to History, concentrating in European History. She is interested in pursuing a career in consulting after graduation.

Janay Terry

  • Data analysis

Janay Terry is a junior studying Anthropology and Legal Studies, and especially loves to study the intersection of Anthropology and global health. She is the Student Advisory Board representative for the Anthropology major, as well as the Academic Chair for the Undergraduate Anthropology Society. She loves to watch Netflix, play computer games, and collect records. She hopes to attend medical school, and launch a career in pediatrics.

June is a sophomore studying Learning and Organizational Change and is especially interested in education and entrepreneurship for social empowerment. She loves to watch movies, write, read novels and create music. She hopes to work with the Kenyan government in the future to implement education policy changes and youth empowerment reforms.
